Jennifer O'Brien March 23, 2015 My 5th, 2013 Ride Day in Pictures Jennifer O'Brien March 23, 2015 Noah arrived at the command center bright and early, dressed for the chilly morning. Andrea is a little nervous. She is wearing a name badge so she looks legit. The riders had a training session before heading out on their ride adventures. Thanks to St. John the Evangelist Church for letting us use the youth house as our command center. Michael has done a lot of hitchhiking in the past. He felt pretty comfortable hitting the road with his ride board. Lauren traveled to Checker’s grocery store and back in 15 minutes. A record time! Her wait time on each leg was just a couple of minutes. Aaron and England traveled north to Interstate 70 and back. They successfully scouted out a place to grab a ride on Second street. Their signs look quite spiffy. Noah got a ride to Dillons with a driver who had heard of Lawrence OnBoard! Noah said that it was a very easy and companionable ride- just like I hoped it would be once the word got out. Mike’s driver was so interested in Lawrence OnBoard, he stopped in to ask questions. And he filled out a driver survey right on the spot. Thanks driver Steve! Robbie took a little while getting back. Maybe it was the handwriting? Matt and Andrea decided to do some impromptu commerce at Pines Garden Center. They caught a ride back downtown with their plants. I think the bright red shirt helped Matthew get a ride from South Iowa St. in spite of the busy traffic. JoAnn was our fabulous back-up driver. She dropped Matthew and Robbie off at South Iowa. I am pleased to announce that JoAnn did not need to rescue one single stranded rider Back at the command center, the riders filled out questionnaires, gave a short videotaped interview, and recorded the data about their rides. When all the riders were back safe and sound, all the data collected and all the pictures taken, we celebrated with a tasty lunch. What a great day!
